The last few weeks of my third trimester are a serious blur. Between COVID, WFH, buying and moving into our first home and a few minor pregnancy complications, there was hardly any time for me to “nest” since I was basically “nesting” our entire house.
It felt like as soon as we got into our home it was a race to purchase everything we needed for baby girl and her room before she arrived. That being said, everything for her nursery finally came together literally THE WEEK that she arrived (bless you expedited shipping).
It’s been a whirlwind since bringing our Princess P home and getting acclimated to our new schedule and life as new parents, but I am finally super excited to share her nursery with you!
Her crib was something I had a really hard time deciding on at first. I LOVED the mid century design of this crib but sort of wanted a wooden crib. This crib does come in a wood but the stain was a tad dark for the light, retro, “sunshiney” vibe of her nursery that we were going for. Ultimately we chose this crib because the style was exactly what we wanted, it converts into a toddler bed and we decided we could always add some wood elements elsewhere.
Her bookshelf was a surprising Target find! We wanted her room to have a retro California vibe and knew adding a few rattan pieces would do the trick. I searched all over Facebook marketplace, Etsy and Craigslist to try and find a vintage piece but then we stumbled upon this super reasonably priced Target shelf and we knew it was meant to be!
Her large woven lamp is unfortunately a piece that we repurposed from our bedroom that isn’t sold anymore but I will try to link some similar finds at the end of this post.
Her rug was a poll I posted to my insta stories while she was still in utero! I was torn between this rug from Overstock and another rug that’s no longer available. I’m so glad I went with my gut (and the poll winner) and got this rug because I think it truly makes everything come together. The subtle hint of muted rust is the exact pop of color we wanted throughout her nursery.
These picture frames (which you’ll notice are still empty because I cannot make a decision on what to put in them) are an H&M Home find. If you haven’t found yourself browsing through H&M Home online, you’re welcome. They have the trendiest home decor at such great prices and decent quality. The only downside is that everything sells out almost instantaneously. Seriously, if you like something from H&M Home, there is no time to ponder over whether you want it. Just buy it or you’ll end up like me with major regret. There are soo many pieces I slept on that I wish I just hit that add to cart button to.
The chair in her room is actually an old Opalhouse chair from Target that we got for my bridal shower. It was so awesome being able to incorporate something so sentimental into our baby girl’s nursery. The chair is no longer available but they do still have this one which is pretty close! The pouf is still available (from Target) and comes in plenty of colors. The small faux plant by her crib is yet another Tar-jay find and added the perfect pop of color to her nursery. It definitely needed a little greenery up in there.
Her mobile was a very special handmade gift from a family friend, Palmer’s Auntie Patrice, who is insanely talented and crafty. She took inspiration from a mobile we had on our registry and created this entire mobile by hand! (Will link similar)
The dresser we originally wanted kept selling out so we finally decided to just go with another one. The Pottery Barn one that matches the crib is a bit pricey and seemed a little large but now knowing the dimensions of her nursery, we may actually purchase the matching dresser (which is very similar to this one just larger) and re-purpose this one in the guest room. We’ll keep you posted on that! This one is from Overstock but is also sold out so I’ll be sure to link some similar styles.
The rattan wall shelves we chose we found on Urban Outfitters! We got super lucky because these were another hot item that kept selling out. We felt they really added that retro California vibe that we were going for and are super happy with how they turned out. These are also no longer available (go figure), so will definitely link similar!
The rattan flower mirror we went with was actually the second one we bought. We originally bought this one from Urban Outfitters but then after purchasing we got an email saying it would be back ordered until basically forever. Needless to say, we wanted her room completed before she arrived so we searched the web and found this one at Macy’s, of all places! Ps. We can’t return the mirror or cancel the order so we are STILL waiting on the original mirror to arrive! Both mirrors are no longer available so I’ll link similar.
Her changing table basket and toy basket are both from good old Tar-jay! They make her changing table basket in a larger size which I may have to buy for some where else in our house because they’re just too cute.
These adorable little vases are also a Tar-jay score! Unfortunately they aren’t available any longer so of course I’ll try to link some similar. The palms we got, in part as little nod to her name, are from Afloral (terracotta) and Etsy (natural spears).

That’s pretty much it for her nursery aside from the fact that we’re still waiting on her blackout curtains and ceiling light to be installed. (Will update this post when they arrive!)
We hope you enjoy her nursery as much as we do!
